|This week our focus on Sunday morning was on choosing wisdom as we respond to all circumstances in life, rather than folly. If we don’ t make the effort to deploy Godly wisdom as we respond to the various events in our lives, then we are instead choosing to live by our own wisdom.
And if we are operating from our own wisdom, we will often cause pain and hurt, because we are operating out of our flesh – our earthly passions and desires, rather than a desire to bring Glory to God. This is the opposite to what we are able to bring if we are employing Godly wisdom from above – we can actually be peace makers!
And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. (James 3:18)
Being peacemakers is not an easy task, as it can be so difficult to actually speak words that bring peace because it is so hard to tame our tongues! It is such a small part of our body, yet can do so much damage. Yet we must make the effort, and strive to deploy Godly wisdom in how we use our tongues – submitting our words to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
And then maybe we can be the type of people who chose wisely when we respond to circumstances before us – who choose Godly wisdom over our earthly tendencies to fly off the handle or say something hurtful. Maybe we can bridle our tongue and bring it under the control and lordship of Jesus Christ, and maybe our wise words will bring Hope. That is our challenge…
